While quilting this table runner my thoughts went to remembering every individual is a star!
Handmade quilted table runner. Machine quilted and the binding was hand stitched to the back of the runner.

I thought that a lot of people are partial to badgers-and of course no ordinary sweater would do so I knit a block of stripes and then felted it. The Harris Tweed has been in my stash since the mid-70s! Truly!!! I've been saving it for something special-only had a yard 36" wide it was so expensive.
Quilted Pride Flag, sewn in tabs on back of quilt for hanging horizontally or vertically. Can be hung on curtain rod or dowel. (Or you don't have to use the tabs at all!)

This quilted pride flag was made with love and is dedicated to D's courageous life journey. D could have benefited from the work of an organization such as GSAFE had it been available while in school. Thank you to all who work to support LGBTQ+ youth (D is in the process of moving to the Madison area from Washington State where he went to college.)

The design of this quilt is called bargello. The long strips of batik fabrics are sewn together to create loops. The loops are manipulated to create a sense of movement. This quilt is intended to be used as an art quilt. I've added a casing on the back and instructions for hanging. The casing could be removed.

I made my first bargello quilt several years ago when my granddaughter asked for a rainbow quilt. When I learned that "In Rainbowland" was this year's GSAFE auction theme, I immediately thought of using this same design. The entire quilt is sewn with batiks, which is a favorite quilting fabric.

Now, many years later, I strive to create a space of love, respect, and tolerance. I'm inspired daily by my own children and the teens I teach. "I know if we try we can really make a difference in this world...I believe we can."

Diorama box is completely covered back, top, bottom and sides with newspaper articles regarding what is happening in the news surrounding all issues for LGBTQ+ persons, focus on the positive! Some squares of fabric cover the box as well. The tree and branches are made from newsprint. The leaves are fabric and combine many Pride colors as well as green. The Roots are a mix of multi-colored ones and newsprint...all newsprint is burned using my wood burner tool to give the tree a lifelike look. (A few branches are from my honeysuckle vine.) The quilted background includes the words to Rainbowland. Box has a picture hook on the back and is made to hang.
Box dims: 13 1/4" ht x 10" wide x 3 3/8" deep. Outer dims of the Root/Tree branches approx: 20" ht x 14 1/2" wide
When I heard the theme this year I was immediately inspired to make this box. I love to quilt and I love fiber arts so this was a perfect match for me. Hopefully someone will love this as much as I do. Why do I do this? Because everyone should be accepted and feel loved for who they are.
